Marat Agabalyan
Marat is the founder of TA Legal Consulting and is specialist in corporate/M&A, investment projects in Russia and abroad and dispute resolution. Marat and his team offer extensive experience in the usual attendant disciplines to general corporate and finance mandates - including including labour, immigration law and personal data protection matters.
Marat is part of the new generation of Russian lawyers that can offer leading national advice which is readily tuned to the requirements of international client. Prior to establishing TALC, Marat worked as senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills and Dechert in Moscow for more than a decade.
Marat helps clients to structure and carry out investment projects in Russia and abroad, including advising on the establishment of joint ventures, construction projects, purchase and sale of shares and assets (including real estate), negotiations with investors, vendors, potential partners and contractors, as well as advising on regulatory matters.
Marat and his team also represent clients in disputes in the Russian commercial courts and courts of general jurisdiction as well as in international arbitrations.

Russia, USA: Advised IBE Kft, an investment company of American billionaire Alexander Rovt on the acquisition of shares in a medical centre in Moscow founded by Ms Elena Malysheva, a doctor famous for her TV shows on the Russian television.
Ethiopia: Advised two Russian businessmen on setting up and running a gold mining business in Ethiopia with partners from Israel.
Russia: Represented IKEA in disputes related to the rental of diesel generators, including a number of court proceedings and criminal investigations.
Russia, Cyprus: Represented an international bank in the proceedings in the Russian court at the suit of an offshore company to invalidate the contract of assignment of the rights under the credit agreement, the related mortgage and recovery of damages in the amount of US$180 million, and obtaining interim measures in Cyprus prohibiting the applicant to continue the trial against the bank in Russia with the simultaneous arrest of assets.
Russia, USA: Advised a US producer of medical devices on a contract with a Russian technology company for the development, production and distribution of medical equipment in Russia.
Russia: Advised a private investor on the acquisition of shares in the holding company of a Russian franchise chain represented by over 300 restaurants across 10 countries in Europe, Asia and the US.
Russia: Advised a Russian wood processing company on raising finance from a group of high net worth individuals in the form of an equity investment.
Russia: Advised the founders of an industrial company on its disposal to a Russian state-owned corporation.
Russia: Advised a Russian entrepreneur on the launch of a mobile aggregator of automotive services, including carwash, car repair, tow track, car accident manager and others.
Russia: Advised kitchen furniture producer Leicht on its trademark infringements in Russia.
Russia: Represented De La Rue, a British manufacturer of securities and banking equipment, on the change of management of the company in Russia and the subsequent trial on the claim for reinstatement.
Russia: Represented glass factory Pilkington Glass in a dispute out of title to a land plot in the Moscow region.
Russia: Advised a high net worth individual on the reorganisation of his real estate portfolio and on the establishment of a real estate fund to manage the property.
